RWS is developing a program which links mentors from industry with students. The goal of the program is to create opportunities for students to become increasingly aware of the opportunities they have within the industries in their local area. Once mentoring relationships are established it is hoped that students and mentors will follow a carefully agreed program covering a variety of areas aimed at developing skills necessary to increase employment opportunities. It is hoped that students will be better equipped to make informed choices as to the subjects they should take at school, university or in further education institutions. It may be also be appropriate for some of the students to consider apprenticeships as an alternative.
