This project will partner science teachers with industry mentors and help create opportunities for teachers to observe and learn about a variety of scientific processes that take place within industry. The purpose of the project is to help teachers contextualize specific topics within the curriculum by linking them with mentors who have the expertise and knowledge of how these processes are applied within industry. Each of the partnerships will be tailored to meet both the needs of the teacher and the expertise of the industry mentor. Teachers may be involved in an industry tour related to a specific topic in the chemical guide. It is hoped that this would be followed up with “coaching” either electronically or through face-to-face meetings between teacher and mentor. This partnership could be further extended through a visit/talk by the industry mentor within the science classroom setting.
